The scene at the Orpheum Theater felt like an Oscars and operatic ball convergence, with a dose of Carnival festivity. Sophistication and creativity was the rule of the evening with women in long gowns, men in tuxedos — some partygoers came in costume. All wore masks.
It was the inaugural Link Stryjewski Foundation’s Bal Masque to benefit Kingsley House and Youth Empowerment Project. Co-hosts Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski have a longstanding reputation for throwing great parties, and with this fete their Link Restaurant Group (Herbsaint, Cochon, Butcher) and foundation made it the place to be at Saturday (Jan. 9).

As the headliner, Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band, with special guests Preservation Hall Horns, played the songs we all know and love. Preceding him on stage was Jon Cleary, the Cha Wa Indians and the Roots of Music marching band.
