A local Catholic Sister is about to celebrate her 102nd birthday. So far she's received gifts from all around the world, including a special medallion from the President of Ireland. Also, the Sister left quite an impression on a past student who sent something that's also brightening her day.
It's a card sent from someone special that holds deep meaning. Sister Aidan Donaldson, RSM, with the Sisters of Mercy is so happy. She said receiving a hand written note from Jimmy Buffett made her day.
"I was really surprised. I had not seen him since he left the 8th grade," Sister Aidan said.
Sister Aidan was Buffett's eighth grade teacher at St. Ignatius. Sister Aidan is also one of the singer's oldest fans. A group of past students even brought a special shirt imprinted with her picture, also one of young Buffett.
"That's him as an altar boy, I can tell by the surplus he was wearing," Sister Aidan added.

Sister Aidan recalls Buffett as a child and said she is so proud to see him now as a world class entertainer.
"I got excited seeing him. I thought he had changed but he didn't. I was delighted that he was able to do something that was constructive," said Sister Aidan.
Sister Aidan watches Buffett's performances in awe and although she hasn't spoken to him in years, she knows exactly what she would say when they cross paths again.
"I may tell him that I admire what he was trying to do for the public and that it's a big experience if he is trying to entertain them. After all it's a gift from God that he is giving to them," She added.
It seems to Buffett and many others, Sister Aidan has been a gift herself.
"She is a real inspiration and has always been. I'm thrilled and we're all thrilled she lived to be 102. The fact that she is so active still at the Convent of Mercy, if there is anybody that comes in this building she tries to take care of them," Sister Marilyn Graf, RSM, said.
Until about four or five months ago Sister Aidan was still ministering and leading prayer services and just recently stopped painting. She said she's truly fortunate to be able to see 102-years-old.
"It is a big blessing from God and he knows what he's doing with every one of us and therefore I accept from God the gift he was given me," Sister Aidan added.
Sister Aidan's 102nd birthday is Friday and as a tradition, past students from her eighth grade class come to visit her and have a party.
